How to apply for a mechanical license for cover songs

If you have recorded a cover song, you must have a mechanical download license for that song.  This ensures that son

g writers will be paid for the use of their music.  MySongStoreTM has a relationship with Harry Fox Agency which streamlines this process.  Harry Fox Agency is the clearing house for approximately 80% of songs which are not in the public domain.  Once you have uploaded your music click on "License Manager" and click on "request a new license."

You will then see the following screen where you will see a drop down menu where all the songs you have uploads will be listed.

Select the appropriate cover song and click on it.  You will be asked to choose the agency (Harry Fox Agency) and the songfile code which is accessed from the LookUp hot button.  This will bring you to the Harry Fox song file.  Note: Just because a song is listed in the Harry Fox data base does not mean that the song is managed by Harry Fox Agency.  You will also be asked to enter the song writer's name from the data base.  At this point, MySongStoreTM personnel will apply for the license in your name. Once your license has cleared, we will withhold the appropriate statutory mechanical download royalty and distribute it once a quarter. Click here for more information on cover songs.

If your cover song is not handled by Harry Fox Agency, we will help you apply for a license from the various publishers who own those songs.  Please e-mail us with the song title and song writer and we will assist you in applying for the license.  You will have to e-mail a PDF copy of the license to us and we will handle
